Shop Technician

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include proper selection and combination of foundations, pumps, and related equipment for specific jobs, as well as knowledge of tubing hook-ups to spools and reels, and hydraulic hook-ups to reels and foundations.

• Ability to identify and communicate problems with reels, equipment, and spools
• Operate and maintain all testing equipment associated with visual and dimensional inspection (Mic's)
• Complete all report forms for quality assurance shipping and receiving as required
• Make minor repairs to equipment, hose fittings, counters, rollers, etc.
• Proper execution of all procedures that pertain to used tubing and waste fluid
• Proper execution of all tube cutting procedures and use of cutting torch equipment
• Qualified/trained for forklift ground guide, crane rigging, and qualified to operate forklift up to 70,000 lbs
• Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, utilize safe work habits
• Perform other work-related tasks as assigned

Qualifications

A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred, along with 1+ years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Mechanical problem-solving ability and troubleshooting is required
• Knowledge in blueprint reading and precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gages, indicators and various transfer gages)
• Competent in the use of basic hand tools and other tools such as torque wrenches, impact guns, hydraulic torque machines, and air tools
• Basic understanding of hydraulic systems
• Able to safely drive/operate a forklift and safely operate a crane
• Basic computer skills

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to stand, walk, bend/stoop, push/pull and repetitive movement up to 12 hours daily
• Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs
