Shop Technician
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventive service on heavy equipment, trucks, and machinery
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues, identify solutions, and perform necessary repairs
- Maintain equipment logs, repair records, and parts inventory
- Aid in diagnostics and repair of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Assist in shop projects as needed
- Fabricate or install components for repairs or modifications under guidance from the Shop Manager
- Ensure tools, parts, and work areas are organized and maintained
- Follow OSHA and company safety standards for all maintenance and repair activities
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce safe working practices
- Report safety hazards, unsafe conditions, or equipment deficiencies to Shop Manager
- Collaborate with Shop Manager and Fleet teams on repair priorities and equipment readiness
- Communicate status of repairs, maintenance, and equipment availability to shop leadership
- Assist Field Operations with troubleshooting equipment issues as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred
- 3+ years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment, trucks, or machinery, preferably in construction or soil stabilization
- Knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems on heavy equipment
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and shop practices
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods
- Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, and heavy machinery
- Ability to work in a shop environment with varying temperatures and conditions
Work Environment
This position operates primarily in the company’s shop/fabrication facility. The Shop Mechanic interacts with Shop Manager, Fabricators, Fleet staff, and Field Operations to ensure equipment and machinery are maintained, repaired, and ready for safe and efficient deployment to job sites.
