Shop Supervisor - Construction/Rental

About the role

Ziegler Cat is seeking a Shop Supervisor to join their team. The role supports the Technicians at the branch location.

Responsibilities

• Service Call Labor Management: Assign work to technicians, approve employee time, monitor service calls, manage bay space, verify additional work request details, resolve invoice disputes, troubleshoot parts availability, and facilitate tool replacement and torque testing programs.
• Safety, Contamination Control, and Quality: Complete incident reports, conduct branch safety walks, perform monthly tank inspections, uphold lockout/tagout procedures, maintain safety inspections, review completed JSAs, hold regular safety meetings, uphold contamination control standards, verify technicians' work quality, and resolve customer complaints.
• Technical Subject Matter Expert: Provide input on inventory, stay updated on new equipment/products, and provide technical guidance.
• Training and Coaching: Answer technician questions, coach technicians, conduct coaching and performance action conversations, and build team morale through team lunches, trainings, and other activities.
• Staffing and Employee Management: Interview candidates, hire technicians, support the technician intern mentor program, oversee onboarding of new technicians, complete annual performance reviews, maintain employee records, support employees' career development, answer questions on company benefits, and handle worker's compensation accommodations.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree preferred; high school degree required
• 5+ years of technical or mechanical knowledge strongly preferred
• 3+ years of leadership experience required (mentor, lead, or supervise)
• Strong computer skills required (MS Office products)
• Strong people leader who develops employees through coaching and feedback
• Strong communication and organizational skills required

Minimum Physical Requirements

• Lift/carry up to 10 lbs
• Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, stair climbing, forward reaching, bin lift, fingering/grasping

Benefits

The total compensation (base plus incentive) for this position is $74,200.00 to $111,300.00. Full-time positions are benefits eligible, including:
