Duties and/or Responsibilities
- Obey and enforce all safety rules and work in a safe manner.
- Perform occasional maintenance.
- Must be able to give proper instruction to heavy equipment and truck technicians.
- Must be able to diagnose and recommend repair or maintenance needed on all trucks and heavy equipment.
- Ensure that proper housekeeping is attained by all employees throughout the work shift.
- Must be able to prioritize jobs and coordinate a continuous work flow to all technicians.
- Will hire, supervise, train, and evaluate all employees in the maintenance shop.
- Will be responsible to ensure that all shop staff are given proper safety training.
- Will coordinate all human resource issues including vacation/payroll/special requests from production staff and explain company policies to workers.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems and assist workers in solving work problems.
- Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Maintains Safety, HR, maintenance, and other records as required.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Will supervise and coordinate scheduled and unscheduled equipment maintenance across all divisions.
- Ensure DOT, MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
- Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Able to work independently and under time constraints.
- Team leadership and staff supervision.
- Construction equipment, tools, and materials management.
- Shop operations, maintenance, and repair procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- High School diploma or General Education Degree.
- Minimum of 8 years of truck and heavy equipment mechanic experience.
- Ability to hold and maintain proper licensure and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime, possible nights and some Saturdays.
