About the Role

This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of electric, diesel, and gasoline industrial trucks and batteries, as well as construction and aerial equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Accepts assigned work orders from Service Dispatcher, Planner, and Manager to diagnose and plan repairs.
  • Makes mechanical repairs to equipment after a complete inspection and analysis of breakdown, approved by the Service Manager or Shop Lead.
  • Documents complete repair descriptions on work orders, including correct model, serial number, and hour meter reading.
  • Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and safety devices on units; makes necessary adjustments.
  • Lubricates moving parts and test-drives repaired trucks to verify conformance to specifications; ensures final quality inspection before returning the unit to service.
  • Submits all paperwork (work orders, time cards, etc.) to Service Dispatcher/Planner daily.
  • Provides the Service Manager with reporting data on work in progress for field technicians.
  • Controls the flow of work in the shop, including trucking and rentals when necessary.
  • Creates and communicates quotes for shop work and field service when required.
  • Guides technicians to assist in completing repairs as needed.
  • Opens, reviews, and validates all information on work orders throughout the repair process until billing is complete.
  • Organizes all paperwork generated during shop repairs, including shop folders.
  • Communicates with customers on the status of their shop jobs via outbound calls during repairs.
  • Confirms scheduled maintenance has been performed on all units in the shop for repairs.
  • Answers and responds to incoming customer service calls.
  • Performs final sign-off on shop work orders prior to invoicing.
  • Performs other duties assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; 1 year of related mechanical experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to perform basic math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; compute rates, ratios, and percentages; and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form and deal with problems involving several concrete variables.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel) and Internet software.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Work Environment

Work environment varies from office to job site to industrial locations.
