Full-time position at Texas First Rentals (TFR) in Lewisville.
About the role
This entry-level position performs inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of heavy equipment and related components. You will work independently or as part of a team to deliver mechanical services that meet customer needs and departmental goals. Generally requires two or more years of relevant experience or demonstrated job-relevant skills. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines under moderate supervision.
The role includes modeling company values, collaborating with internal and external resources, and participating in ongoing self-development.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and diagnose basic equipment malfunctions and failures
- Disassemble and assemble basic machine components to manufacturer’s specifications using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and specialized tooling
- Rebuild, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of estimating, planning, and controlling repair costs
- Complete parts orders and identify parts for return
- Maintain equipment and work areas in clean, orderly condition
- Work safely and adhere to all safety policies; comply with company policies and standards
- Work overtime as required by workload and customer needs
- Update job knowledge through educational opportunities (e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- General knowledge of machines, tools, and their repair/maintenance
- Proficiency with computer software, hardware, and machine electronic systems
- Quality control analysis skills (testing and inspecting products/services/processes)
- Operation and control of equipment/systems
- Equipment selection skills (determining tools needed for the job)
- Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane
- Ability to quickly and repeatedly operate machine/vehicle controls to exact positions
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and mechanical repair equipment
- Manual dexterity for precise movements (e.g., grasping, manipulating small objects)
- Ability to read, write, and understand information
- Ability to listen and comprehend spoken information/ideas
- Must possess basic mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard)
Qualifications
- Two or more years of work-related experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move objects and use abdominal/lower back muscles to support weight over time without fatigue
- Frequently lift/move materials or equipment up to 50 pounds
- Constant movement and use of limbs; requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
- Ascend/descend ladders and equipment using hands and feet
- Maneuver safely and work underneath equipment
- React to visual, auditory, and other signals (e.g., alarms, instructions)
- Visually inspect work
- Perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places
Work Environment
- Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts
- May be exposed to weather extremes (heat, cold, humidity, inclement weather)
- Noise level may be loud at times
- Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
- Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
