Shop Mechanic

Requirements

• ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• - Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on tractors and equipment
• - Thoroughly cleans tractor and equipment parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary
• - Oils and lubricates moving parts on tractors and equipment to ensure effective performance
• - Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts
• - Orders and installs replacement parts for tractors and equipment
• - Identify the causes of unexpected breakdowns of tractors and equipment
• - Repairs broken tractors and equipment quickly and efficiently
• - Prepare reports documenting work performed
• - Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies
• - Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on tractors and equipment
• - Makes necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with Farm Operations Manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required
• - Fill in throughout the farm positions that may need extra support during the peak seasons
• - Trouble shoot and repair irrigation pivots
• - Performs other duties as necessary or assigned

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Driver's License
• Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience, required
• Extensive mechanical and electrical experience, preferably farm and irrigation equipment
• Diesel Engine experience

Physical/Environmental Demands

• Prolonged periods standing and walking
• Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery
• Must be able to visually inspect machines
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds
• Must wear safety glasses and hearing protection in designated areas
• Exposure to airborne particles or fumes
• Ability to withstand cold and warm working conditions
• Must be able to navigate various terrains while at farming locations and all departments of the organization's physical premises
