About the role
TNT Crane and Rigging Inc. is seeking a full-time experienced Shop Manager for the Fort Worth Branch. The Shop Manager oversees all aspects of maintenance, preventative maintenance, customer service, safety, training, inventory, and profit & loss for the branch's service workload.
Responsibilities
- Forecast daily service workload and assign work to crane mechanics, technicians, and shop support personnel
- Plan work on a weekly, daily, and shift basis through accurate estimates and follow up on assignments
- Implement and ensure adherence to TNT Safety and Shop Procedures
- Identify variances and establish recovery plans
- Provide positive and constructive feedback to subordinates and peers
- Assume primary P&L responsibility for branch service operations
- Hire, direct, and train shop personnel
- Open work orders and maintain purchase order systems
- Confer with vendors regarding goods availability, pricing, deliveries, discounts, and supply changes
- Develop and implement systems and procedures for safety, operations, sales, and administrative functions
- Conduct inventory and maintain accuracy in ordering, receiving, usage, and adjustments
- Assist in training and developing staff in maintenance system areas
- Maintain records and prepare reports
- Apply knowledge of cranes and transport equipment, including designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Motivate staff to contribute a full day's work
- Troubleshoot shop maintenance management systems
- Monitor system operations and identify out-of-parameter delivery
- Review problems, develop corrective actions, and assign work with expectations for safety, quality, on-time delivery, and productivity
- Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related discipline preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of shop/maintenance experience
- Previous supervisory/management experience preferred
Skills
- Ability to interpret, read, write, and type reports
- Strong prioritization, organization, and deadline management skills
- Knowledge of vehicle systems, technology, and local motor vehicle laws (OSHA, CDL, DOT, and other regulatory requirements)
- Proficiency in computer skills and office software packages
