Shop Helper

About the role

A Shop Helper is needed to diagnose, repair, inspect, and maintain truck-mounted vacuum equipment in both the shop and the field, ensuring fleet equipment meets DOT and OEM standards for safe, reliable operation.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
• Effectively read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics
• Perform all scheduled PM inspections of chassis, vacuum body, hydraulic, electrical, air and water systems
• Conduct all repairs within DOT or OEM standards and service to return rental equipment "Ready to Rent" status
• Perform and document "check in" and "check out" inspections of fleet equipment
• Maintain and organize shop and storage areas ensuring proper storage of flammable items
• Knowledge, Skills And, Abilities (KSA's): Possess solid understanding of the function, operation, and maintenance of truck-mounted vacuum equipment preferred
• Must demonstrate solid understanding of mechanical and hydraulic system and electrical troubleshooting
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical data, drawings, and schematics
• Possess basic computer skills
• Must be organized and possess the ability to multi-task
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team
• Be self-motivated, shows complete accountability, is timely in all assignments
• Must own and supply a basic set of hand tools and storage box

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Minimum three (3) years, verifiable experience as a mechanic
Experience of truck mounted vacuum equipment -- preferred
