About the role

Ready Mixed Concrete Co., a CRH Company, has been the premiere concrete supplier in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area since 1929. With state-of-the-art production and delivery, Ready Mixed supplies all types of projects from highly technical commercial construction and high-volume paving to residential projects.

The Shop Foreperson oversees the daily activities in a shop, including technician scheduling, repair procedures, technical guidance, and overall fleet condition.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, manage, and maintain an effective scheduling process (visual board and CMMS) to ensure the preventative maintenance program is in place.
  • Schedule, track, and manage technician effectiveness.
  • Define, implement, and utilize current Work Order processes to manage and track all equipment repairs.
  • Implement and ensure the effectiveness of repair processes.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and maintenance through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local DOT laws and regulations, including annual DOT inspections.
  • Maintain awareness and compliance with all MSHA and OSHA regulations affecting shop and equipment operations.
  • Track, manage, and reduce reactive repairs on breakdowns, door calls, and service calls.
  • Oversee the VCR/VIR process to ensure effective daily inspections and completion of repairs.
  • Communicate with local vendors to ensure effective outsourced repairs.
  • Utilize input from Sourcing teams on significant purchases or agreements.
  • Conduct annual inspection processes to ensure scheduled maintenance and reduce downtime.
  • Foster an employee-driven safety culture.
  • Assist with other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with electronic equipment management systems preferred.
  • Background in heavy equipment and on-highway trucks preferred.
  • Experience in the building materials/construction industry preferred.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must pass drug screen, motor vehicle records check, and criminal background check.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Regular and consistent attendance; willingness to travel occasionally and work evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook) and database software.
  • Ability to utilize the internet and communicate effectively.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to communicate via email, telephone, and in person.
  • Able to use a computer for processing, email communication, and document preparation.
  • Able to regularly lift and/or move 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently talk, hear, walk, and sit; occasionally stand, reach, use hands and fingers, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to occasionally climb stairs, ladders, inclined walkways, and access elevated platforms.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to:

  • Fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Risk of electrical shock or burn.
  • Moderate to loud noise levels in some areas of the work environment.
  • Adverse weather conditions and complex job sites on occasion.

Proper clothing and PPE (personal protective equipment) are required. For non-field duties, the environment is typical of an office setting with quiet to moderate noise levels.
