About the Role

The ideal Shop Foreman must have experience in areas including the oversight of other mechanics and performing administrative tasks. Repairs and maintains diesel and gasoline engine industrial trucks according to dealership and factory specifications.

Location: Bergey's Truck Center-Reading, PA

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with location manager, providing status of maintenance and budget requirements.
  • Identify actions to improve operating efficiency.
  • Supervise maintenance operations.
  • Plan and distribute the work and monitor performance.
  • Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair.
  • Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Save and tag parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicate with service advisor/dispatcher immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Road test vehicles when required.
  • Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  • Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Supervise work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
  • Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Ensure that vehicle is kept clean. Notify service advisor/dispatcher immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
  • Keep shop area neat and clean.
  • Maintain and be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Return them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
  • Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
  • Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Report any safety issues immediately to management.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master level Diesel Technician
  • Must have valid Driver's License
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background checks and drug screening
