Shop Crane Technician

About the role

The MGX Shop Crane Technicians operate and perform thorough inspections of cranes to diagnose defects. They repair and troubleshoot various mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes, including Grove RT & TMS Cranes, Grove GMK European Cranes, Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional Cranes, and National Boom Trucks. The position reports to the Service Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and inspect cranes for defects
  • Diagnose, repair, and troubleshoot crane equipment
  • Examine parts for damage or wear
  • Read and interpret operating manuals and blueprints
  • Test mechanical, electronic, hydraulic, and electrical products
  • Prepare for jobs by checking parts and drawings
  • Perform annual inspections
  • Accurately fill out reports and time sheets
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Independently accomplish tasks without direct supervision
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with at least 2 years of crane mechanic/technician experience
  • Experience with Grove RT & TMS Cranes, Grove GMK European Cranes, Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional Cranes, and National Boom Trucks
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer/client focus
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Basic computer skills
  • Purchase full set of hand tools up to 1.5 inches
