Shop Crane Technician
About the role
MGX Shop Crane Technicians inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain various crane equipment including mobile cranes and boom trucks. This position is located at the Nashville, TN branch of MGX Equipment Services and reports to the Service Manager.
Responsibilities
- Operate and perform thorough inspection of cranes to diagnose defects.
- Diagnose, repair, and troubleshoot various mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes; repair hydraulic and electrical components.
- Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges.
- Read, understand, and interpret operating and parts manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Test mechanical, electronic, electrical, and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper operation and compliance with OEM specifications.
- Prepare for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
- Perform thorough and accurate annual inspections.
- Properly fill out working reports, hours reports, time sheets, hours overviews, and expense reports.
- Able to accomplish tasks independently without direct supervision.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Capable of performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of two (2) years of experience as Mechanic/Technician.
- Experience working with different forms of mobile crane equipment, specifically Grove RT & TMS Cranes; Grove GMK European Cranes; Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional Cranes; National Boom Trucks preferred.
- Must be able to read both electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Excellent communication skills with a customer/client focus.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record preferred.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Required to purchase full set of hand tools up to 1.5 inches.

Must be able to perform job functions in a safe manner. Must wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required by Company policy for the job being performed. Must know and follow established job specific and facility wide safety and health procedures and rules. Must actively participate in safety and health training and demonstrate competency based on training received. Must bring safety and health issues, unsafe acts, and safety suggestions to management’s attention or correct those you can.

Pay
$4,500 sign-on bonus, payable after 90 days continuous service; eligible for Tool Reimbursement Program of up to $1,500 per calendar year.
Schedule
Typical working hours between 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Overtime and weekend work may be possible based on business conditions.
