About the role
The MGX Shop Crane Technicians operate and perform thorough inspections of cranes to diagnose defects. They repair and troubleshoot various mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes, including Grove RT & TMS Cranes, Grove GMK European Cranes, Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional Cranes, and National Boom Trucks. The position reports to the Branch Manager.
Responsibilities
- Operate and inspect cranes for defects.
- Diagnose, repair, and troubleshoot crane equipment.
- Examine parts for damage or wear, using tools like micrometers and gauges.
- Read and interpret manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Test repaired or modified equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Prepare for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy.
- Perform annual inspections thoroughly and accurately.
- Fill out reports, time sheets, and expense reports.
- Accomplish tasks independently without direct supervision.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED with at least 2 years of crane mechanic/technician experience.
- Experience with different types of mobile crane equipment, especially Grove RT & TMS Cranes, Grove GMK European Cranes, Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional Cranes, and National Boom Trucks.
- Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Excellent communication skills with a customer/client focus.
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Basic computer skills.
- Purchase a full set of hand tools up to 1.5 inches.
