Shop Assistant

Job Responsibilities

• Drives a motor vehicle (automobile, utility van, pickup, light truck, etc.) up to 26,000 pounds gross vehicle weight (GVW) on public highways to transport non-hazardous materials or equipment.
• Loads and unloads vehicles.
• Performs a variety of production duties, including tending machines, handling product, visual sorting or inspection, packing, or performing other operations.
• Assists large machine operators with setups, adjustments and operations, and assists with assembly and erection operations involving the handling of heavy weight materials, tools and equipment.

Approximate Percent of Work Duties:

• 60% Driving
• 30% Cleaning
• 10% Assisting Production

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or its equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to follow demonstrated directions
• Knowledge of machine shop practices, techniques, and operations
• Basic math, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• 0–2 years of experience

Work Environment

Well-lit, clean and temperature-controlled machine shop with moderate noise. Staff members will need to be able to work while standing, sitting, bending, and climbing. Frequent lifting required.
