About the role

The automotive shop assistant is a motivated, organized, and reliable individual responsible for supporting daily operations. This includes maintaining a clean and safe work environment, assisting technicians, managing parts inventory, and assisting with other shop-related tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by performing general shop upkeep like sweeping, cleaning work areas, and taking out trash
  • Organize and manage the inventory of parts and supplies, including receiving, stocking
  • Ensure that tools and equipment are clean, well-maintained, and returned to their proper locations
  • Absorb and manage other shop-related tasks and logistics as assigned by management
  • Assist with retrieving and delivering tools, parts, and equipment to technicians as needed to keep the workflow moving
  • Help with the disassembly and reassembly of vehicle components
  • Collect, salvage, and sort reusable or recycle materials or waste materials
  • Use proper personal protective equipment
  • Present a professional appearance and conduct
  • Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
  • Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
  • Stop at risk behavior of others and self
  • Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
  • Take direction and respond to supervision

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in an automotive shop or similar mechanical environment is a plus
  • Forklift certified
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with automotive tools
  • Knowledge of automotive cataloging and inventory systems
  • Proficiency with computers and other office equipment
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in inventory management and record keeping
  • Ability to identify issues and assist in troubleshooting under supervision
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with colleagues and customers
  • Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or listen
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds

Pay

$21.00-$22.00 per hour

Schedule

Monday-Friday 7:30AM-4:00PM
