About the role
The automotive shop assistant is a motivated, organized, and reliable individual responsible for supporting daily operations. This includes maintaining a clean and safe work environment, assisting technicians, managing parts inventory, and assisting with other shop-related tasks.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by performing general shop upkeep like sweeping, cleaning work areas, and taking out trash
- Organize and manage the inventory of parts and supplies, including receiving, stocking
- Ensure that tools and equipment are clean, well-maintained, and returned to their proper locations
- Absorb and manage other shop-related tasks and logistics as assigned by management
- Assist with retrieving and delivering tools, parts, and equipment to technicians as needed to keep the workflow moving
- Help with the disassembly and reassembly of vehicle components
- Collect, salvage, and sort reusable or recycle materials or waste materials
- Use proper personal protective equipment
- Present a professional appearance and conduct
- Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
- Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
- Stop at risk behavior of others and self
- Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
- Take direction and respond to supervision
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in an automotive shop or similar mechanical environment is a plus
- Forklift certified
- Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with automotive tools
- Knowledge of automotive cataloging and inventory systems
- Proficiency with computers and other office equipment
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in inventory management and record keeping
- Ability to identify issues and assist in troubleshooting under supervision
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with colleagues and customers
- Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or listen
- The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds
Pay
$21.00-$22.00 per hour
Schedule
Monday-Friday 7:30AM-4:00PM
