About the role
Duke's is looking for a dependable and team-oriented Shop Assistant to support our fleet, warehouse, and shop operations based in Plymouth, MI. In this hands-on role, you'll help keep our equipment, vehicles, materials, and facilities organized, safe, and ready for our field crews. Responsibilities
- Abide by all safety policies and procedures, including wearing required PPE for your safety
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment
- Organize inventory, supplies, and parts
- Review work orders and gather required materials and parts
- Pull and prepare materials for field crews
- Handle shipping, receiving, and inventory organization
- Pick up and deliver parts, materials, vehicles, and equipment locally
- Assist with cleaning, servicing, and preparing company vehicles and equipment
- Complete basic facility maintenance, repairs, and daily cleanup tasks including lifting of heavy objects, loading and unloading of parts, and parts and trucks washing/assembly
- Assist superintendents, technicians and operators as needed
Requirements
- Will abide by all safety policies and procedures, including wearing required PPE for your safety
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (a chauffer's license is required in Michigan; CDL is a plus)
- Willing to undergo a background check, MVR check, pre-employment drug screen, and DOT physical for DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate
- Previous experience working in a shop, warehouse, fleet, construction, or industrial environment preferred
- Familiarity with inventory management and equipment handling
- Willing to run errands as needed
- Able and willing to work overtime and/or weekends as needed
- Working knowledge of technology including smartphones, tablets, digital communication tools, and data entry
- Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with field crews
- Must be able to carry and lift 50 lbs. of equipment and tools from vehicle to problem area several times per day (may involve stairs and/or ladders)
