Main Function
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Shipping Superintendent in the coordination and direction of daily activities in the shipping department.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and develop shipping department personnel to provide quality workmanship, knowledge of the plant quality system, and a strong safety program
- Provide safety training to all shipping employees; actively enforce all plant safety programs and policies
- Monitor the quality system ensuring that all loading procedures are current, up to date and are being followed by the employees
- Schedule of daily loading activities using all resources available
- Direct packaging, identification, and shipping of product to ensure the material is received in good condition
- Develop ongoing relationships with customer service and suppliers
- Arranges the day-to-day record keeping and administrative functions relating to the shipping employees, absenteeism, vacation schedules, work schedules, overtime records and accident reports. Including reviewing punches in the Kronos system
- Arranges the shipping department day-to-day record keeping relating to equipment calibrations, equipment, work orders and equipment maintenance and repair
- Assist in material management and inventory
- Assure continued compliance and development of ISO 9001:2000 registration
- Assist in assurance of compliance with all appropriate regulatory agencies
- Improve people performance through coaching, education and training to ensure long-term dependability and increase productivity
- Provide leadership for continued improvement in efficiencies and quality

- Able to develop and enhance relationships with peers, customers, suppliers and auditors
Education And Experience
- College degree preferred
- Two to five years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or AS400 database programs
- One to two years of Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Effective communicator, both oral and written
