About the Role

The Shipping Supervisor oversees all inbound and outbound logistics activities, including receiving, shipping, warehouse flow, and inventory movement support. This role ensures materials are accurately received, properly stored, and efficiently shipped to support manufacturing and customer requirements.

This position leads the Logistics Team and is accountable for driving operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, on-time shipment performance, and safe warehouse operations. The role ensures alignment between receiving, shipping, and internal material flow to support uninterrupted production and distribution activities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all inbound and outbound logistics operations, including receiving, shipping, staging, and material movement.
  • Manage daily receiving activities including unloading, inspection, verification, and ERP/WMS transaction accuracy.
  • Ensure all incoming materials are properly received, documented, and stored or routed appropriately.
  • Oversee outbound shipping operations including order fulfillment, packaging, labeling, staging, and carrier loading.
  • Ensure all shipments meet customer, carrier, and internal requirements for accuracy, documentation, and timing.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound freight scheduling with carriers, suppliers, and internal production teams.
  • Supervise and lead the Logistics Team, including hiring support, training, coaching, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Assign daily workloads and ensure balanced labor utilization across receiving and shipping functions.
  • Maintain high standards of inventory accuracy through proper receiving and shipping transaction discipline.
  • Resolve discrepancies related to shipments, receipts, shortages, damages, and documentation errors.
  • Partner with Materials Management, Production, and Purchasing to ensure material availability and flow.
  • Maintain accurate records including packing lists, bills of lading, receiving documents, and system transactions.
  • Support freight claims processing and resolution of damaged, lost, or delayed shipments.
  • Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) including shipping accuracy, receiving accuracy, on-time delivery, and productivity.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean principles, including 5S, waste reduction, and process standardization.
  • Improve dock-to-stock and order-to-ship cycle times through process optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies, OSHA regulations, and company procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and organized warehouse and dock environment, enforcing proper PPE and material handling practices.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in warehouse, logistics, shipping, or receiving operations in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • 1+ years of supervisory or lead experience required or strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing both inbound (receiving) and outbound (shipping) logistics operations.
  • Experience with ERP/WMS systems (Oracle, SAP, or similar) strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, logistics flow, and carrier operations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification required/preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a warehouse/dock environment.

Qualifications

High school diploma required; associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field preferred.
