About the role
The Shipping Supervisor at Allegion is responsible for overseeing and managing the company's shipping and receiving operations to ensure efficiency and accuracy. This role involves supervising a team of up to 40 full-time and temporary employees to ensure compliance with standard procedures and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage daily shipping and receiving operations
- Supervise a team of up to 40 full-time and temp employees
- Administer employee timecards using Kronos
- Audit packing operations to ensure no items remain in packing for more than 48 hours
- Manage the RFGM process and conduct daily audits
- Ensure "Ship Drop" inventory is processed within two hours daily
- Achieve OTP/OTA daily targets and monthly financial objectives
- Cook with first-shift teams to ensure seamless shipping and receiving processes
- Coordinate with first shift receiving leaders to ensure all materials are received and moved on the same day they arrive
- Maintain daily MDI metrics and review takt sheets
- Manage the PO receipt process
- Maintain 5S standards within the department and on the LTL pad
- Oversee the BOL (Bill of Lading) process
- Onboard and coach Team Leaders on fundamental leadership skills
- Manage Fast Track shipments with OTA compliance rate
- Address shipping and receiving concerns promptly, escalating significant issues when necessary
- Maintain accurate process records
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in operations management, logistics, materials, supply chain management, engineering, business administration and management, or a related field is highly preferred
- 5+ years of experience leading teams is recommended
- Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or logistics environment
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
- Problem-solving skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
