Schedule

Thursday – Sunday, 6:00 am to 6:00 pm

Responsibilities

  • Maintains overall responsibility and accountability for functions within the shipping and receiving (S/R) department.
  • Implements all company rules and regulations as per current Employee Handbook.
  • Monitors S/R department performance and compares to established goals.
  • Maintains active participation in the Daily Staff Meetings.
  • Obeys all Safety Rules; conducts accident and incident investigations.
  • Adheres to current GMP rules and Food Defense Plan; participates in Internal Audits and inspection walks.
  • Completes assigned tasks listed in Corrective Action Plans.
  • Understands Lean Manufacturing tools including 5 Whys, Brainstorming, Fishbone, Graphs, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Trains all shipping and receiving personnel on policies and procedures.
  • Acts as primary liaison with Customer’s Logistics department and assigned carriers.
  • Manages inventory of Loose Pack, Materials, and Finished Goods, including all physical inventory counts and inventory consolidation.
  • Responsible for department discipline and adherence using the WMS (Warehouse Management System).
  • Works closely with Production and the Supply Chain Manager to ensure production needs are met.
  • Keeps all forklifts and material handling equipment in good working order.
  • Manages the inter-departmental transport of materials.
  • Handles shipping of goods related to Food Bank, Rejects, and Returns.
  • Performs performance reviews and goal-setting of S/R employees.
  • Provides counseling and disciplinary actions to S/R employees as needed.

Qualifications

General

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Works well with little supervision and in a team environment.
  • Maintains a high level of business courtesy and etiquette when interacting with Customers, Vendors, and Sales representatives.
  • Demonstrated time management and multitasking skills.
  • Willingness to work additional hours as necessary.
  • Bilingual in Spanish not required but desired.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Education/Experience

  • 2 years WMS / ERP experience.
  • Knowledge of general office equipment.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Computer Skills

  • Ability to use various PC software in Windows environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems independently and make decisions quickly and accurately.

Working Conditions

Internal, climate-controlled traditional office environment; work requires periods of sitting, frequent walking, frequent computer use, frequent use of telephone including voicemail, and frequent use of general office equipment. Occasional lifting required when locating stock in the warehouse.
