Shipping & Receiving Clerk-Parts Dept

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments, prepares items for shipment, and ensures proper control of the parts inventory and related administrative functions.

Essential Duties

• Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with the shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
• Ensure that outgoing shipments meet specifications.
• Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
• Direct others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments.
• Receive damaged or defective goods returned to the establishment and designate them as Returned Goods.
• Receive unsold products returned by the Parts Manager.
• Place daily parts orders.
• Assist the Parts Manager in processing weekly stock orders.
• Ensure that unused “foreign parts” are returned to vendors.
• Remove returned parts from inventory after credit is received.
• Return cores in a timely manner and follow up for receipt of credit.
• Provide necessary information to the warranty department to allow prompt filing of parts warranties.
• File company copies of parts counter invoices.
• Assist counterpeople with check and credit‑card processing when available.
• Take messages for Parts counterpeople and the Parts Manager when they are unable to answer the phone.
• Keep the parts office area clean.
• Assist back‑counterpeople with technicians’ requests for parts and charge parts onto Repair Orders.
• Add new parts to inventory in the proper bin location.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
• Ability to interpret vendor catalogs, use the parts department computer system, calculator, and motor vehicle.
• Ability to use mechanical tools such as crimpers, pliers, wrenches, and tape measure.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a drug and background screening.
