Responsibilities
- Perform tasks involved in the shipping of materials, supplies and equipment.
- Participate in problem solving activities and contribute to quality improvements.
- Operate a data entry terminal.
- Actively promote a teamwork atmosphere and support team development.
- Communicate effectively with various personnel.
- Provide direct interaction with team members involved in shipping.
- Assist and guide employees on issues related to the shipping department.
- Achieve deadlines, adhere to company policies and procedures, and train employees.
- Record shortages and correspond with shippers to rectify damages and shortages.
- Examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, and place identifying information on containers.
- Assemble/coordinate wooden or cardboard containers or select preassembled containers.
- Attach Bills of Lading to shipping containers.
- Examine outgoing shipments to ensure they meet specifications.
- Report any unsafe conditions to Supervisor/Management.
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
- Interpret instructions in various forms.
- Ensure cleanliness of work area and general housekeeping of the Company.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- 2 years of experience required.
- Knowledge of UPS Worldship/FEDEX Ship manager, creating LTL BOLs, and experience with international shipping.
- Past ERP experience and computer knowledge.
- General computer knowledge.
- Diplomacy and the ability to deal with and influence persons in all types of positions.
- Familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
