Job Summary
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Captures and schedules all outbound loads and collaborates with sales and production.
- Determines the correct loading sequence and placement of products.
- Verifies shipping documents and notes any discrepancies.
- Configures all loads for shipment via common carriers with external freight companies.
- Coordinates the route of orders and dispatches carriers with orders and appropriate delivery instructions according to customer receiving times.
- Ensures all internal/external paperwork complies with Universal and DOT regulations and procedures.
- Documents any shortages on orders, investigates the causes, and informs sales and administration.
- Takes and acts upon all calls for tracing and/or expediting orders.
- Maintains accurate documentation and records of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Might assist with loading and unloading materials from trucks or carts.
- Prepares various reports and correspondence as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma/GED
- Minimum 6 months of experience in shipping and receiving or related fields
- Working knowledge of standard DOT concepts, regulations, practices, and procedures
- Working knowledge of proper loading techniques, weight limitations, and company procedures
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Basic knowledge of lumber math, lumber grades, and species
- Successful completion of forklift driver licensing process
- Preferred understanding of company policies, practices, and procedures
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Compensation & Benefit Information
- Hourly/Salary Pay Range: $20 - $25 hourly dependent on experience
- Potential for incentive pay including piece rate incentives, weekly production bonuses, trip rates, and employee referral bonuses
