Responsibilities

  • Understands and observes all necessary safety procedures: safety glasses, shoes, ear protection, machine interlocks, lifting guidelines, etc. as designated in specific work area assigned
  • Prepares orders (i.e., pulling a sales order from the floor, wrapping the parts batch, packaging items) for shipment and completes required paperwork
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by using the shipping and receiving equipment (i.e., forklift, cherry picker, electric or manual pallet jack) in a safe manner
  • Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit
  • Perform or assist with inventory cycle counting and investigate discrepancies if needed
  • Understands and follows shipping procedure as defined by the Prince Industries ISO certification requirements as it relates to position
  • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or glues shipping labels onto crates or containers
  • Organizes inventory when necessary
  • Operates shipping/receiving equipment such as scales, stretch wrap machine and uses pallet jack to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping to designated area or trucks for shipment
  • Assembles cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled containers
  • Completes necessary job-related paperwork to include labels and some tags, enters transactions into the inventory management system (i.e., Epicor)
  • May be required to use forklift and narrow aisle truck when instructed specifically by Department Supervisor
  • Frequently reviews all correspondence (i.e., Teams messages, and emails) and responds to all requests in a timely manner
  • Works effectively with all department personnel and co-workers in a harmonious and cooperative manner to meet the needs and goals established by the company. Maintains good housekeeping in assigned work area
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor; may include temporary department transfer to meet production needs

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Work-related experience in shipping environment preferred
  • Due to ITAR regulations, only U.S. persons—defined as U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders), and U.S. nationals—are eligible for this position

Skills

  • Ability to recognize and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, inspection materials
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form with supervisor and all levels within the company as it relates to the job duties
  • Ability to comprehend and follow simple oral or written instructions
  • Knowledge of shipping and regulations desirable
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with inventory management software (i.e., Epicor), Microsoft Office, and data entry. Experience with FedEx and UPS
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English

Physical & Work Environment

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, or walk the duration of shift, 8-10 hours
  • Frequently required to talk or hear
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach or bend
  • Manually lift, push or pull up to 40 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision in which 20/20 vision or corrected vision to 20/20 vision is required
  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles resulting from metalworking coolants and oils
  • The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud when working in the plant, in which hearing protection is required
