About the role
Working within established guidelines, the Shipping/Receiving Clerk will prepare, review, and track packages and complete documents related to shipping and receiving products. This role involves strong coordination and direct contact with carriers, customer service, and production team members.
Responsibilities
- Verify accuracy of shipments by counting, weighing, or measuring items and comparing size, weight, description, and code numbers with information on invoice or packing slip and purchase orders; record any discrepancies or damage.
- Inspect shipments for damage and defects.
- Move inventory to various locations manually and by operating mechanical equipment, including forklift, pallet jack, and handcart.
- Read and fill requisitions for stock items.
- Verify accuracy of orders received.
- Load and unload delivery trucks by hand or by use of forklift.
- Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles according to prescribed safety procedures.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and carrying.
- Detect needed repairs on vehicles and equipment by following established inspection procedures.
- Work with all departments to ensure quality and accuracy of items shipped and received.
- Backup scheduler of shipments and data entry.
- Participate in all physical inventories.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent GED certification.
- Six months to one year of experience in a production environment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Self-motivated with good organizational skills.
- Ability to obtain forklift certification.
Skills
- Good English communication skills, both verbal and written.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally required to sit; frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, talk, and hear.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration.
- Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic, flammable, or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and extreme heat.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
Schedule
1st shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
