About the role
Reporting to the Shipping Supervisor, Shipper/Receivers identify, stage, verify, track, and record all incoming and outgoing shipments. Responsibilities include staging finished goods, loading and unloading trucks, performing incoming quality inspections, and processing MRBs in coordination with Strategic Sourcing.
Responsibilities
- Stage, check, label, and load finished product to specified storage areas and/or carriers.
- Process FedEx and UPS packages.
- Receive, identify, verify counts, and audit incoming materials, products, and components to ensure conformance to requirements.
- Understand part numbers and part usage.
- Confirm identifying information and counts, weigh, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, purchase requisitions, or other records.
- Use forklift, hand trucks, or overhead cranes to convey, move, or hoist materials to proper department, areas, or trucks.
- Unpack, examine, and route incoming shipments; reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Receive and process all defective parts returned for replacement or credit.
- Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Perform Standard Work by following Work/Operator Instructions and training.
- Report defective materials or questionable conditions per the MRB (Material Review Board) process.
- Meet or exceed the department’s production efficiency goals.
- Understand and practice 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain).
- Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision.
- Support and participate in assignments in other work areas as workload demands change.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Complete all required record documentation.
- Submit maintenance requests when required.
- Use Spacesaver’s ERP system (IFS) to create shipments, run reports to confirm product status, perform scanning operations, and create shipment documents.
- Process RMA (Return Material Authorization) goods per internal and external customer requirements.
- Transport product between plants and warehouses while adhering to all safety and traffic regulations (non-CDL).
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Achievement of a passing score on Spacesaver’s Baseline Assessment.
- 1-3 years’ experience operating a forklift and an overhead crane and the ability to acquire Spacesaver’s Fork Truck and Overhead Crane Certifications.
- Solid PC familiarity, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and memos in the English language; translation assistance available through HR upon request.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to other team members.
- Proven ability to perform scale weight counts, steel weight conversion of materials, and use measuring devices such as tape measures, calipers, scales, hardness testers, and other equipment.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
- Good time management and organizational skills; ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and be attentive to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record required to operate company vehicles.
