About the Role

This is a 2nd shift position (1pm - 9pm) reporting to the Shipping Manager, focused on coordinating and executing customer shipments in a cost-effective manner while meeting quality and productivity requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and coordinate customer shipments and trucking needs.
  • Work with management and quality teams to determine weekly shipment plans.
  • Collaborate with Production Control/Sales to meet customer commitments for casting sales.
  • Problem-solve shipment errors and enforce all safety rules.
  • Identify, implement, and track cost-reduction activities for trucking-related issues.
  • Coordinate shipping and trucking companies; prepare shipment paperwork, including Customs documentation, labels, waybills, export declarations, certifications, special attachments, government forms, and Bills of Lading (BOL).
  • Prepare final outgoing shipments: verify weight, quantity, banding, commercial documents, and loading onto common carrier trucks.
  • Track and provide Proof of Delivery (POD) to customers/vendors.
  • Proactively communicate issues, shortages, or problems to relevant teams.
  • Track inventory on shipping containers and supplies.
  • Determine shipment methods based on procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Invoice customer shipments as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of dock supplies (e.g., corrugated containers, miscellaneous supplies).
  • Perform daily forklift checks and report findings.
  • Monitor truck traffic to align with business needs.
  • Organize work for smooth operations and maintain required documentation.
  • Provide shift-to-shift communication to align team goals.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere and meet efficiency standards.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-year experience in a shipping & receiving environment.
  • Forklift certification (training provided).
  • High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted by experience).
  • Computer and clerical skills required.
  • Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and off-hours to support customer shipments.
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to interpret SOPs, EPs, and detailed work instructions.
  • Positive relationships with vendors, suppliers, customers, contractors, and operations teams.

Schedule

2nd shift: 1pm - 9pm, with flexibility to work weekends and off-hours as needed.
