About the role
The Shipping & Delivery Clerk supports daily shipping, logistics, and delivery operations by preparing outgoing shipments, coordinating delivery activities, and ensuring an efficient workflow. This position also provides backup delivery coverage and is responsible for ensuring products are delivered safely, accurately, and on schedule. The Shipping & Delivery Clerk contributes to maintaining high service standards and customer satisfaction through accurate, timely, and professional service.
Responsibilities
- Organize and prioritize delivery and shipping jobs based on destination, deadlines, and customer requirements.
- Prepare products for shipment by shrink-wrapping, banding, labeling, and properly securing skids and packages.
- Load delivery vehicles and common carriers using appropriate material-handling equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts.
- Verify delivery receipts, labels, packing lists, and other shipping documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Generate shipping documentation, including packing slips, bills of lading, and shipping labels for UPS, FedEx, USPS, and LTL carriers.
- Identify and select cost-effective and timely shipping methods based on customer and order requirements.
- Make necessary adjustments to shipments based on order changes or modifications.
- Ensure all outbound jobs are properly wrapped, banded, labeled, and secured prior to shipment.
- Follow established pickup and delivery schedules to ensure timely service.
- Deliver products safely and professionally in accordance with company customer service standards.
- Provide delivery documentation and obtain customer signatures when required.
- Communicate delivery delays, order changes, and logistical issues to the appropriate departments or supervisor.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe shipping areas, equipment, and delivery vehicles.
- Perform routine vehicle safety inspections and promptly report maintenance or service needs.
- Report order discrepancies, equipment issues, and workflow concerns to the supervisor.
- Replenish bindery and shipping supplies and maintain an organized inventory.
- Provide professional and responsive customer service to internal and external customers by answering inquiries and providing accurate shipping and delivery information.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support shipping, delivery, and overall operations.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL is a plus.
- Previous experience in shipping, warehouse, logistics, fulfillment, or a related field preferred.
- Printing industry experience is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret job tickets, packing lists, shipping documents, and delivery instructions.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with shipping software and Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to safely lift and move up to 40 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Commitment to workplace safety and the proper handling of products, equipment, and vehicles.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
