Shipping Clerk (Nights, B1)

Responsibilities

• Ensures all load documentation and diagrams are verified and accurate for billing purposes.
• Partners with supervisor and QA to assist with releasing loads.
• Generates bill of lading based on documentation and load diagrams.
• Completes load information on the appropriate forms and databases.
• Collections and prints necessary papers for shipping and receiving.
• Collects information to produce reports and data entry.
• Ensures drivers have proper paperwork before load is released.
• Establishes when pre-shipment is needed.
• Maintains information and communication regarding all trailer issues as well as shortage requests/releases.
• Notifies shuttle drivers when trailers need to be pulled or placed at dock.
• Keeps schedule and lot layout up to date.
• May schedule receiving and inbound appointments.
• Participates as a member of the Team.
• Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
• Attends appropriate team meetings.
• As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
• Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Qualifications

• Familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies).
• Must be able to read, write and speak English, possess basic math skills, use a ten key by touch and be proficient in the use of a computer to include spreadsheets.
• Must be able to lift/move 3 - 20 pound bags of product at waist level; be able to work in a cool, wet and noisy environment.
• Must be able to pass company issued forklift certification.
