Shipping Clerk LTL/FTL

Job Summary

The Shipping Clerk verifies and keeps records of incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment. The role involves utilizing package-level detail system to verify items and quantities against orders, preparing Bill of Lading for LTL/FTL shipments, preparing, matching, and verifying shipping information and manifest accurately, negotiating freight rates with carriers, assisting with stretch wrapping and loading trucks, adhering to customer shipping guidelines and the preparation of shipping information and manifest, and adhering to strict Shimano's 5S Principles.

Start time is 10 am-6 pm with mandatory overtime.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Utilize package-level detail system to verify items and quantities against orders.
• Prepare Bill of Lading for LTL/FTL shipments.
• Prepare, match, and verify shipping information and manifest accurately.
• Negotiate freight rates with carriers.
• Affix stretch wrapping and loading trucks.
• Adhere to customer shipping guidelines and the preparation of shipping information and manifest.
• Adhere to strict Shimano's 5S Principles.
• Assist with other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Job Qualifications

• Experience working in a warehouse/distribution center preferred.
• Ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced warehouse environment focusing on customer satisfaction.
• Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints is required.
• Must be able to stretch wrap product on pallets properly.
• Ability to use shipping software and automation equipment and perform tasks per Shimano’s standard operating procedures and customer guidelines.
• Familiar with AS400, UPS WorldShip, and FedEx international systems.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and Internet Explorer.
• Must meet and maintain performance standards set by the company.
• Good attitude and take initiative. Takes pride in their work environment and embraces 5S principles.
• Ability to communicate verbally effectively.
• Excellent attention to detail.

Work Conditions

• Environment: Approximately 100% of the time performing job duties is spent indoors in a warehouse with limited heating or air conditioning. The temperature of the work environment, when in the office, is moderate. The temperature of the work environment in the warehouse may equal to the outside temperatures of the area. While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to the risk of electric shock. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (Conveyor belt, skill saw, compactor and forklifts).
• Physical Demands: Frequently lift from overhead or below the waist, Occasionally bend, twist, push, pull, climb, squat, crawl, kneel, Frequently reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stand and walk; grasp with hands and fingers; and lift (up to 10 lbs.). Continuously stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and key (i.e., computer, calculator, telephone).
• Machines, Tools and Equipment: Frequently use copier, fax, and 10-key calculator; Continuously use writing instruments, computer and telephone.
