About the Role
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for packing, sealing, affixing appropriate labels, and processing related paperwork for product in preparation for shipment following company procedures and commercial packaging best practices.
Responsibilities
- Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures and best practices.
- Verifies shipping and product information using a computer.
- Packs product into appropriate containers using spacers, fillers, and protective padding.
- Enters shipping information into shipping system programs, such as FedEx and UPS.
- Affixes appropriate identification labels which include ship-to and packing information onto crates and containers.
- Processes appropriate transactions for weights, charges, and other related information into ERP system using the computer terminal.
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
- Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Must work well with others.
- Follow all safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- 6 months–1 year experience related to shipping/receiving, picking/packing or warehouse.
- Direct experience with shipping and packing preferred.
- SAP/ERP experience preferred.
- Ability to read shipping documents.
- Flexible and willing to work in any areas of distribution as needed.
- Able to work independently with little supervision.
- Ability to think critically to meet and exceed internal customer expectations.
- General packaging knowledge.
- Proven ability to work as a team.
- Basic computer skills using MS operating systems.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across department and function lines.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Above average math, reading, writing and reasoning skills.
- Willing and able to work overtime when there is a business need.
- Ability to prioritize a changing workload.
- Ability to multi task in a fast pace environment.
Pay & Benefits
- Competitive market salary from $40,560 – $43,680 per year depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities may be available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
