Shipping Clerk

About the role

To properly prepare and transport material in a way that ensures accurate, on-time deliveries to our customers.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a clean and orderly work area/warehouse
• Complete necessary paperwork by entering into computer to ship materials
• Verify all skids are packaged properly, including that day’s shipments, make and holds, and jobs for future
• Communicate with carriers picking up orders
• Prepare the material to ship out to customers by protecting it on all sides using shrink-wrap
• Strap material to the skid using banding and tensioner
• Prepare material for export using special export skids and cutting necessary wood
• Transport and organize material to prepare for shipping
• Load outbound trucks matching carriers with correct assigned orders
• Willing to work in other departments and/or areas and complete miscellaneous duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School diploma and/or equivalent and one year of related experience
• Organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and multi-task
• Tow motor experience and ability to successfully complete tow motor certification training
• Exceptional attention to detail and good follow-up skills
• Good problem-solving skills
• Ability to interact professionally with coworkers, other departments, and vendors
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Basic computer skills
• Willingness to work as a team member or independently
• Ability to read a tape measure
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to read a micrometer
• Ability to stand for 8 hours with some bending and lifting involved
