About the role
We are looking for a motivated, high-energy team member to join our Materials Operations Team as a Shipping Clerk at our Kansas City International Airport Area facility (former TWA Overhaul Base). This full-time position focuses on processing outbound shipments, ensuring top-notch service and on-time delivery, and maintaining accuracy in all shipping operations.
Responsibilities
- Process outbound shipments: pick product, print packing slips, paperwork, and labels, package materials properly, and load outbound product to carrier
- Provide visual inspection of outbound orders for accuracy, noting discrepancies and escalating as appropriate
- Investigate problem orders to arrive at timely resolution and meet customer requirements
- Handle aircraft parts in accordance with the Jet Midwest Quality Assurance manual
- Prepare and clean aircraft parts for shipment as required
- Comply with written and oral instructions
- Examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures
- Ensure correct shipment of international orders and hazardous material orders
- Train others as required
- Cross-train on Receiving and Cycle Count
- Become forklift certified
- Become Repair and Sales Order qualified
- Become Hazmat trained and qualified
- Perform other job duties as assigned
- Pull, pack, and scan orders with attention to detail
- Work independently and within a team
- Regularly interact and coordinate with team members at all levels of our supply chain
- Collaborate with our Carpentry Shop
Requirements
- High School diploma
- Experience in Shipping or Materials Management
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
- Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment and discretion in dealings with co-workers
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Physical Demands & Work Environment
While performing the responsibilities of the Shipping Clerk, you will be seated at a desk using a phone and computer for much of your workday. Physical requirements may include:
- Walking long distances, crouching, crawling, standing on ladders or scaffolds
- Using hoists and lifts, precision instruments, and other necessary hand tools requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity
- Working indoors in a climate-controlled environment or outdoors in various weather conditions (when safe)
- Lifting up to 50 lbs., with safe lifting techniques and assistance from co-workers or supervisors as needed
The noise level is typically low to moderate, consistent with a warehousing environment.
