Shipping Clerk - 3rd Shift

About the role

This is a full-time position located in Rockwall, Texas, reporting to the Shipping Manager. Insurance benefits start the 1st of the month after the date of hire and include health, dental, and vision. Paid vacation days are also provided. The shift is 3rd shift, from 11:30pm to 7:30am, Sunday night to Friday morning, and may require overtime and weekend work.

Responsibilities

• Plan loads to customers based on order quantities and combine them to make multiple stop deliveries to maximize trailer utilization and minimize costs.
• Set up delivery appointments for loads planned.
• Set up customer pick ups.
• Cut bills for all loads.
• Communicate with logistics about all outbound loads and delivery times.
• Operate a forklift.

Requirements

• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as sales reports, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, training and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Qualifications

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
• Ability to solve a variety of problems and deal with situations where limited information or standardization exists.
• Mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, and compute rates, ratios, and percentages.

Skills

• Working knowledge of computer data entry and application skills.
• Quality standards knowledge, including ISO and QS.
• Equipment operation knowledge, including office equipment and its capabilities.
• Regulatory requirements knowledge, including wage and hour requirements, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, and personnel requirements, including OSHA, DEQ, and EEO.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is sometimes required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics include exposure to moving equipment in the work area, wet and/or humid conditions, hot and cold temperatures, and loud noise levels.

Preferred Experience

• Microsoft Excel experience.
• Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
• Prior work experience as a forklift operator.
