Shipping Associate

Albany Engineered Composites (AEC) designs, develops, and manufactures advanced composite components to help customers push the frontiers of innovation. Our core strength is producing highly tailored, complex composite components with unique products including 3D woven structures, traditional and non-traditional 2D composite structures, and discrete through-thickness reinforcement technologies.

About the role

To support and assist all shipping duties of the Shipping and Receiving department. All employees are expected to conform to the following values: Safety, Fact-Based, Accountable, Respectful, Persistence, and Ethical. Safety is the top priority at all times.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and pick up materials, parts, and Kanban cards on designated water spider routes at scheduled times.
• Work with VSLs, Team Leads, and Quality Techs to manage material flow between the stockroom, warehouse, and shop floor.
• Prepare materials with the Stockroom Attendant for delivery to Production.
• Perform weekly inventory counts and ensure batch/lot (FIFO & FEFO) compliance for transacted materials.
• Assist with hardware kits to support production needs.
• Perform all relevant SAP transactions and reporting.
• Load and unload freight vehicles using forklifts and other material handling equipment.
• Package materials for transport or storage as required.
• Work flexible hours to meet daily departmental objectives.
• Understand and manage customer shipment schedules.
• Prepare outbound shipments and arrange necessary logistics.
• Complete all outbound shipment documentation.
• Adhere to Safety policies, programs, and initiatives, including workplace organization (5S).
• Follow all company and governmental policies and procedures.
• Troubleshoot and assist in solving problems; drive continuous improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
• Maintain housekeeping and organization of work areas (Receiving, Stockroom, and Warehouse).
• Coordinate activities with other departments as necessary.

• Perform any other assigned duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or recognized equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• SAP system experience preferred.
• Shipping and Receiving experience preferred.
• Must demonstrate organizational skills and ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Detail-oriented in terms of documentation.

Skills

• Basic math skills.
• Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Forklift and powerlift certification; ability to safely operate a forklift and pass certification.
• Computer skills (MS Excel, MS Word, SAP).
• Complete IATA, IMG, and ground Dangerous Goods certification as required.
• Ability to perform Shipping and Receiving functions.
• Ability to communicate in English via written and spoken words.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
• Proper use of safety and personal protective equipment.

Working Conditions

• Indoor production environment with adequate lighting and comfortable temperatures.
• Occasional exposure to moderate noise and machinery with mechanical moving parts.
• Ability to work a 24/7 schedule as business situations require, including overtime.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent repetitive hand movements and use of hand tools (band cutters, box cutters, scissors, etc.).
• Ability to detect and recognize visual differences between materials or parts.
• Frequently moves materials and parts over 25 lbs between pallets and carts.
