About the Role

This position is responsible for operating a forklift, pallet jack, and/or other material handling equipment as part of the distribution process in a warehouse setting. The Shipping and Receiving Operator will utilize equipment while performing tasks including shipping, receiving, unloading, scanning, moving, staging, loading, locating, relocating, and stacking product.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with quality system (ISO9001), Environmental (ISO 14001), and Safety (ISO 18001) standards.
  • Record, organize, and store all raw materials and finished goods in appropriate inventory locations.
  • Prepare and stage finished, outbound materials for shipment.
  • Load outbound trucks for shipment.
  • Unload inbound trucks of raw material and deliver to required locations across the plant site.
  • Properly use common warehouse tools and equipment such as hand-held scanners, forklifts, and pallet jacks.
  • Perform general housekeeping of the work areas.
  • Participate in all warehouse safety and security programs and activities.
  • Perform cycle counts.
  • Supply all documentation needed to complete shipping and billing requirements.
  • Inspect product to verify conformance to internal specifications.
  • Inspect, operate, and clean mobile equipment such as bobcats and forklifts as needed.
  • Follow all company safety, environmental, and quality procedures and standards.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent pushing and pulling.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and lifting.
  • Frequent forklift truck driving.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.
  • Work in tight and closed-in spaces.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to a respirator.
  • Work in an area of intense or continuous noise.
  • Work in an area with non-hazardous and hazardous materials.
  • Work in dusty areas.

Requirements

  • A High School diploma or GED is required.
  • An associate's degree (or higher) from a technical program is strongly preferred.
  • 2 years' experience in a chemical manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Previous experience operating forklifts and other powered industrial equipment is preferred.
  • Must have a level of proficiency with the Internet, Email, and Microsoft Office.
  • Must demonstrate an acceptable level of business acumen.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical, critical-thinking, technical, and problem-solving skills and abilities.
