Shipping and Receiving Operator

About the role

The Shipping and Receiving Operator works rotating 12-hour shifts to support the manufacture, storage, and shipping of specialized flow-improving products used in crude and refined product pipelines. This safety-sensitive position involves operating loading and unloading processes, handling hazardous materials, and maintaining equipment. All associates receive training through LSPI’s Training and Development program and report to the Shipping & Receiving Manager.

Responsibilities

• Operate the loading and unloading of finished product and raw materials following authorized Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and Standard Operating Conditions (SOC).
• Prioritize safety continuously in all operations.
• Maintain and optimize procedures and work instructions for assigned process areas.
• Handle and transport hazardous materials, including volatile and flammable substances.
• Record and track finished product and raw material movements using Microsoft Excel and internal database systems.
• Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on equipment, including heavy machinery, and coordinate with maintenance specialists as needed.
• Proactively communicate needs for spare parts and preventive maintenance.
• Assist in resolving non-conformance product issues using the Trouble Reports System and teamwork.
• Collaborate with the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor to identify training needs and participate in training to improve plant performance.
• Safely transfer product between tanks and trucks using the truck rack facility.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license.
• High school diploma or G.E.D. required; Associate’s degree or technical certification from an accredited school preferred.
• 1+ years of experience in an operating plant environment.
• Previous experience operating a forklift, valves, gauging tanks, and performing equipment maintenance.
• Yard mule driving experience.
• Proven safety record in loading and unloading tanker trucks.

Physical Requirements

• Work rotating 12-hour shifts.
• Lift and carry loads up to 50 lbs.
• Climb ladders and stairs to operate valves, gauge tanks, or perform maintenance.
• Walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb, and carry materials daily on even and uneven terrain.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
