Job Summary
The Shipping and Receiving Operator position involves transporting materials, supplies, and finished products to designated locations, and shipping materials accurately and efficiently while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Job Requirements
- On-the-job-training or previous machine shop experience
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- No minimum educational requirements
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred
- Certification to ride a forklift truck preferred
Primary Responsibilities
- Receives, distributes, and stores products as directed in designated locations
- Prepares and maintains records of materials received and shipped including dates of transactions, locations, and other relevant information
- Reviews shipments for quality and accuracy; reviews accompanying documents for accuracy
- Confirms shipping details or special instructions
- Transport and loads materials, supplies, and finished goods (manually and/or using hand trucks and skids)
- Collections and properly disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping; maintains a safe and clean work environment

Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to walk, stand, sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel parts
- The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, and crouch
- The employee must be able to speak and understand English
- The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with appropriate assistance
- Must be able to be on feet (not sitting) up to 100% of the time
Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
- Ear protection may be required for certain processes
- Closed-toed shoes and eye protection are required for all activity on the shop floor
