Job Duties
- Manage the shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies in and out of the retail store.
- Track, trace, and update the status of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Collaborate and communicate with the purchasing department, customer service reps, and other store S+R teams, and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products.
- Motivate and inspire the team by creating an environment that promotes positive communication, encourages bonding of team members, and demonstrates flexibility.
- Draft and manage any paperwork required of the shipping department, including but not limited to: shipping labels, bills of lading, unfilled orders, shipment weights and charges, problem reports, red hots, etc.
- Keep the shipping and receiving department clean and orderly.
- Promptly unload trucks and deliveries, and sort receivables to be easily distributed to the corresponding sales departments or set aside for overstock.
- Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.
- Check and reply to daily e-mails for the department.
- Any and all other duties assigned by management.
Supervisory Responsibility
- Directly supervises 1-2 employees in the Shipping & Receiving Department.
- Delegate the daily workload and issue written and oral instructions to your team.
- Conduct on-the-job training of S+R Clerks to maximize their skills, product knowledge and overall potential.
- Provide store management with observations to assist with subordinate employee performance reviews or counseling’s.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 1-2 years related experience and/or training.
- Ability to understand written and spoken instructions.
- Intermediate experience with shipping and receiving, including stock control, inventory and recordkeeping functions.
- Forklift, pallet jack, and electronic pallet jack experience preferred but not required.
- An agricultural background from either previous work or personal experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- During the job, employees are regularly required to stand, sit, and/or walk for extended periods.
- Use their hands to handle or control objects.
- Perform tasks that involve reaching, climbing, kneeling, or crouching.
- Frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds, with occasional requirements to handle more with assistance or equipment.
- Push and pull using various equipment.
- Specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, are necessary.
- Verbal communication and the ability to hear are also required for safety and coordination.
