About the Role

The Receiver reports directly to the Operations Manager and serves as the primary point of contact for all inbound waste shipments entering the facility. This position is responsible for coordinating the safe, accurate, and compliant receipt of materials while ensuring all waste profiles, manifests, shipping documents, quality requirements, and regulatory documentation are verified prior to acceptance. The Receiver functions as the operational gatekeeper by working closely with Customer Service, QA/QC, Operations, Transportation, and Facility Leadership to ensure inbound materials are processed in accordance with approved waste profiles, facility operating procedures, environmental regulations, and customer requirements.

As a member of the startup team, the Receiver will assist in implementing receiving procedures, developing work instructions, supporting process improvements, and establishing best practices to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant facility operations.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process all inbound waste shipments in accordance with approved facility procedures.
  • Verify manifests, bills of lading, waste profiles, shipping papers, and customer documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Utilize the computerized scale system to accurately record inbound and outbound weights.
  • Enter receiving information into company operating systems while maintaining accurate production and inventory records.
  • Identify, document, and communicate shipment discrepancies or non-conforming materials.
  • Coordinate receiving documentation with Customer Service, QA/QC, and Operations to ensure timely processing.
  • Coordinate inbound traffic flow to safely and efficiently manage vehicle movement throughout the facility.
  • Verify assigned processing methods and disposal outlets based on approved waste profiles and operational requirements.
  • Operate forklifts and other mobile equipment as required to support receiving activities.
  • Assist with development and implementation of receiving procedures and work instructions.
  • Support startup activities by identifying opportunities to improve receiving efficiency, documentation accuracy, and workflow.
  • Participate in cross-training initiatives to support overall facility operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical training in Logistics, Environmental Services, Industrial Operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of receiving, warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or waste industry experience.
  • Experience in hazardous or non-hazardous waste management, transportation, or industrial operations preferred.
  • Experience utilizing computerized scale systems, inventory systems, or ERP software preferred.
  • Ability to accurately review manifests, shipping papers, bills of lading, and waste profile documentation.
  • Familiarity with waste receiving, material handling, inventory control, and production workflows.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other mobile equipment or obtain certification within the required timeframe.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams).
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to accurately enter data, maintain records, generate reports, and utilize company operating systems.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and internal departments.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular exposure to industrial equipment, moving vehicles, dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
  • Required use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, high-visibility clothing, gloves, and hearing protection.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as operational needs require.
