About the Role
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk ensures accurate and timely receipt, handling, storage, preparation, and shipment of materials and finished goods. This role verifies incoming materials against purchase orders and shipping documentation, identifies discrepancies, and routes materials to appropriate departments or storage. The clerk also prepares customer orders for shipment, maintains records, performs ERP system transactions, and coordinates with internal teams to support inventory availability and on-time delivery.
Responsibilities
- Receiving & Material Handling
- Receive, unload, unpack, sort, count, and inspect incoming materials and supplies.
- Verify received goods against purchase orders, bills of lading, packing slips, and other documentation.
- Identify and report shortages, damage, defects, or other discrepancies.
- Issue and route materials to stockroom, warehouse, production, or other designated locations.
- Store materials in assigned shelves, racks, or floor locations following safety procedures.
- Shipping
- Pick, prepare, pack, label, and process customer orders and materials for shipment.
- Select appropriate boxes, crates, skids, and packing materials based on product and transportation needs.
- Brace, block, secure, and protect products to prevent damage during transit.
- Process and route outgoing shipments using established procedures.
- Prepare and maintain shipping documentation and records.
- Support accurate and on-time delivery of customer orders.
- Inventory, Purchasing & ERP Transactions
- Maintain accurate purchasing, receiving, shipping, and inventory documentation.
- Perform ERP system transactions, including purchase order receipts and inventory updates.
- Process inventory purchase orders, price changes, and system updates as assigned.
- Coordinate KANBAN purchasing activities to maintain planned inventory levels.
- Maintain shipment files, records, and reports.
- Safety, Quality & General Responsibilities
- Follow company safety policies and use personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Handle products and materials to protect quality and prevent damage.
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance.
- Work additional hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of relevant shipping and receiving experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with ERP systems; Made-2-Manage ERP System preferred.
- Must be a U.S. person or protected individual under ITAR (U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, Temporary Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).
Skills
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, ERP transactions, shipping software).
- Ability to read and interpret company documents (safety rules, operating instructions, policies).
- Strong time management, prioritization, and multitasking skills with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in English for reading work instructions and effective communication.
- Strong verbal and written communication; effective interpersonal skills.
- Highly motivated, self-starter, and team player.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move about production areas as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Environmental & Physical Requirements
- Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, or climbing for 66%+ of the workday.
- Possible exposure to dust; ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds 33%–66% of the time.
