About the role

PBM Inc., a leading manufacturer of high-performance ball valves and flow control solutions, is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Clerk to support warehouse, logistics, and inventory operations. This role ensures on-time delivery performance and supports efficient manufacturing operations in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with exposure to moving equipment, forklifts, delivery trucks, and warehouse traffic. Personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses and safety shoes is required.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving Functions
    • Receive incoming products, raw materials, and supplies.
    • Unload trucks and verify incoming shipments against packing slips and purchase orders.
    • Sign bills of lading and other receiving documentation.
    • Stage material for inspection, processing, and warehouse storage.
    • Receive materials in the ERP system and accurately document storage bin locations.
    • Process Return Material Authorization (RMA) receipts in the ERP system.
    • Maintain accurate inventory records and support inventory control activities.
  • Shipping Functions
    • Package products using approved commercial and industrial packaging methods to prevent shipping damage.
    • Process domestic and international shipments using UPS, FedEx, and other carrier systems.
    • Coordinate shipment pickups with carriers and freight providers.
    • Prepare and maintain shipping documentation, manifests, and export paperwork as required.
    • Process government and defense-related orders in accordance with applicable specifications and packaging requirements.
    • Perform all non-standard shipping functions, including export packaging and specialized customer requirements.
    • Close daily UPS and FedEx manifests at the end of each shift.
    • Monitor shipment schedules and ensure customer delivery commitments are met.
  • Inventory and Warehouse Responsibilities
    • Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely and efficiently.
    • Maintain inventory of shipping supplies and packaging materials.
    • Order packaging materials and supplies as needed to support operations.
    • Maintain the foam packaging system and coordinate repairs when necessary.
    • Keep shipping, receiving, warehouse, and dock areas clean, organized, and safe.
    • Adhere to established warehouse storage and material handling procedures.
  • Operational Support
    • Perform 5S activities and support continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Support snow and ice removal activities when required.
    • Follow established shipping schedules and priorities.
    • Notify management when staffing shortages or operational issues may impact customer shipment deadlines.
    • Maintain complete knowledge of company shipping and receiving procedures.
    • Follow all safety, quality, and environmental policies and procedures.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by management within the employee's skill set.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous shipping, receiving, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems and carrier shipping software preferred.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.

Skills

  • Knowledge of shipping, receiving, inventory control, and warehouse processes.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely.
  • Experience using UPS, FedEx, and freight carrier software systems.
  • Ability to accurately process shipping and receiving transactions within an ERP system.
  • Knowledge of commercial packaging methods and shipment preparation.
  • Understanding of domestic and international shipping requirements.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday.
  • Ability to frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and warehouse equipment safely.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors as business needs require.
  • Ability to perform snow and ice removal duties when necessary.

Pay

Pay range is based on the minimum (25th percentile of Mercer data) to the maximum hourly/annually (top of budgeted amount). Individual pay is determined by skills, experience, and qualifications relative to the job requirements and is aligned with market location. Base pay may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
