About the role

The Shipping and Receiving Associate is an integral part of the Facilities team based in Omaha, NE. This role supports the shipping department in the shipment and receipt of products and supplies, including labeling, shipping merchandise, receiving and recording materials, and assisting with facility maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Print and prepare labels, postage, and supporting documentation to prepare materials for shipping.
  • Ensure label and tamper-proof bottles are secured for product shipments.
  • Become trained and maintain authorization for shipping hazardous materials.
  • Verify and utilize carriers with the lowest shipping cost.
  • Maintain computer programs for accurate shipping records on all carriers.
  • Support shipping department in packaging, preparation, loading, and unloading of supplies and product.
  • Deliver or route materials to proper departments using company truck, forklift, or carts.
  • Check product against packing lists, match with correct purchase order numbers, and enter items into JDE System.
  • Assist with product inventory in cooler by organizing and maintaining shelf-life rotation and storage containers.
  • Assist in determining shipping methods, documentation needs, and costs for materials.
  • Manage shipment schedules to support customer and product demands.
  • Contact carrier representatives to arrange shipping and delivery instructions.
  • Examine shipment contents and compare with records to verify accuracy.
  • Verify compliance with all USDA shipping and receiving regulations.
  • Rectify problems such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications with establishment representatives.
  • Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies.
  • Examine documents like work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders to route materials.
  • Maintain clean and safe cooler and shipping areas; keep ice packs stocked for shipping.
  • Assist in facility maintenance, including emergencies that may require coming in on weekends or nights.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • 2 years of shipping and receiving experience.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a cold storage room for extended periods.
  • Valid driver’s license and forklift certification.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, including word processing and record management.
  • Proficiency in using computers and software such as Excel and Word.
  • Understanding of production processes, quality control, and distribution techniques.
  • Strong command of the English language, including grammar and spelling.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work effectively.
  • Experience operating vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipment such as forklifts and trucks.

Skills

  • Ability to maintain concentration in a busy, distracting environment.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Capable of using various hand tools.
  • Ability to complete all required safety training.
  • Competency in operating forklifts and front-end loaders safely.

Physical Demands

  • Performing physical activities requiring use of arms, legs, and whole-body movement (e.g., climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping).
  • Lifting up to 70 pounds.
  • Reaching upward and climbing frequently.
  • Lifting or carrying 21 to 50 lbs.
  • Pushing or pulling 21 to 50 lbs.
  • Sitting and standing frequently.
  • Constantly required to talk, hear, and use hands.

  • Specific vision abilities required: distance vision, depth perception, close vision, and peripheral vision.

Office, warehouse, and cold storage room.

Pay

Hourly rate range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00.

Schedule

Monday - Friday (Standard Work hours).
