Phillips Tank & Structure (PTS) is a nationwide tank construction company headquartered in Braddock, Pennsylvania. We specialize in designing, engineering, repairing, and constructing above-ground metal storage tanks and related structures. We have over 190 employees and branch offices in Texas, California, Kentucky, and Hawaii.
Responsibilities
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments by comparing materials to manifests, packing slips, purchase orders, or other records.
- Prepare shipping documents such as bills of lading, labels, and shipping orders, MTR packages, etc.
- Keep track of job completion/ship progress with detailed records, drawings, and photos.
- Inspect shipments for damage, shortages, or irregularities and report issues promptly.
- Load and unload trucks, ensuring materials are staged, stored, or distributed correctly.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and update logs, spreadsheets, or ERP systems.
- Cook up with Purchasing, Production, and Project Management to schedule deliveries and pickups.
- Ensure materials are properly packaged, labeled, and prepared for shipment to job sites or customers prior to scheduled ship dates.
- Track inventory levels and assist with cycle counts and audits.
- Requisition, store, and organize materials, supplies, and consumables.
- Maintain orderly storage areas and ensure materials are accessible and properly identified.
- Perform a variety of manual labor tasks including material handling, cleanup, and equipment movement.
- Load and unload materials, equipment, and fabricated goods between staging areas and workstations.
- Move or rig materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, hoists, slings, or manual methods.
- Read cut sheets or basic drawings and operate saws to cut materials to length.
- Use grinders, saws, impact wrenches, and other power or pneumatic tools to prepare or finish materials.
- Apply shop coatings to materials as required.
- Erect or dismantle temporary scaffolding on job sites when needed.
- Perform basic safety checks and preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Clean and maintain work areas, tools, and equipment.
- Drive company delivery trucks to transport materials as assigned.
- Using tape measures, squares, levels, chalk lines, hammers, pry bars, come‑a‑longs, chain falls, rigging hardware, brushes, and cribbing blocks.
- Using grinders, saws, chipping guns, impact wrenches, hoists, and material‑handling equipment.
- Using forklifts, overhead cranes, pallet jacks, aerial work platforms, and staging equipment.
- Follow all established safety and quality procedures.
- Use required PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and fall‑protection equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Technical/trade certification preferred)
- Experience: 5+ years of fabrication experience
- Technical Skills: - Strong knowledge of welding processes, metal fabrication, and shop equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards
- Teamwork & Collaboration: Proven team player with clear and respectful communication skills
- Curious and eager to learn new tools, processes and industry standards
- Problem Solving & Decision Making: Strong problem-solving mindset with the initiative to dig into issues and propose solutions
- Documentation & Organization: Capable of maintaining accurate project records, reports, and drawing packages
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple jobs at once
