About the role
Based in London, Ohio, the Shipping Clerk will perform essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of Tyler Berryman to meet customer specifications, including assisting other employees as needed. This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and must perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage. This role is deemed safety-sensitive due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market.
This position is eligible for a $1,500 sign-on retention bonus.
Responsibilities
- Maintains shipping and receiving area as needed.
- Assists with loading and unloading trucks.
- Schedules truck shipments, UPS, and FedEx as needed.
- Interacts with customers to clarify or communicate discrepancies and schedules.
- Inspects and records incoming and outgoing orders for count, damage, dates, etc.
- Brings any irregularities or other discrepancies/concerns to supervisor immediately.
- Promotes and practices safety and good housekeeping.
- Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of shipping experience desired.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in computer applications including Microsoft Office and standard major carriers software (UPS, FedEx, etc).
- Forklift experience highly preferred.
- Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Must be able to work with limited supervision.
- Must adhere to all Bodycote safety protocols.
- Must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder.
Physical & Mental Demands
- Must be able to work in a sitting position for extended periods (at desk, while driving, and/or on airplane travel) in an industrial environment.
- Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity.
- Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
- Ability to hear in person and via phone.

Schedule
