Shipper Receiver
About the role
This position supports the Parts Department by accurately receiving, inspecting, and distributing incoming parts shipments, as well as preparing outgoing shipments for delivery or transfer. The role maintains accurate inventory records in CDK, organizes stock areas, and ensures timely delivery of parts to internal departments and customers.
Responsibilities
- Receive, verify, and record incoming shipments in CDK to ensure accuracy against packing slips, invoices, and purchase orders
- Inspect incoming parts for damage or discrepancies and promptly report issues to the Parts Manager
- Tag, label, and place incoming parts in their proper locations, including designated areas for special orders or customer pickups
- Prepare and package outgoing parts orders for shipment or delivery, ensuring proper documentation and labeling
- Maintain organized stock and storage areas; keep the shipping and receiving area clean and free of hazards
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment safely and efficiently
- Coordinate with Parts Counter, Service Department, and Drivers to ensure timely delivery or transfer of parts
- Track and document freight charges as required
- Assist with daily parts deliveries and transfers between locations as needed
- Maintain adequate levels of shipping materials and supplies
- Follow all safety procedures and use proper lifting techniques at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned
Work Environment
This position operates in a warehouse and shipping environment, with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, dust, and noise. Temperatures may vary depending on the season. Proper safety gear is required. Work is primarily indoors but may include brief outdoor activity when loading or unloading shipments.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and occasionally more with assistance
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the workday
- Regular use of forklifts, ladders, and warehouse equipment
Schedule
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Standard schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime or Saturday work as needed to meet department demands or delivery schedules.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office, email, data entry)
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in shipping and receiving or warehouse operations, preferably in an automotive or heavy-duty truck environment
- Working knowledge of CDK or similar dealership management systems
