About the Role

Responsible for shipping products to customers. Verify and keep records on outgoing products, prepare items for shipment, and arrange for transportation of products. Skilled in the use of parcel software and required to complete all outbound paperwork accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Perform shipping and/or receiving duties.
  • Maintain manual/computerized records and files.
  • Generate shipping/receiving reports and documentation.
  • Create export paperwork using online tools.
  • Complete bills of lading and other required forms with a high level of accuracy.
  • Close orders in the system as required.
  • Use parcel computer programs to accurately address outbound shipments for pickup.
  • Transport material to staging areas, inventory areas, and other designated areas.
  • Verify count/weight and check items ready for shipment against customer orders.
  • Work with Production Control and Customer Service to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Keep adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times.
  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Work in a safe manner and follow all safety rules and procedures.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area (5s standards).
  • Assist other departments when there is limited/no work in the primary area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Some computer skills required; PC and terminal use, and basic data entry skills.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions, read/write English, and interpret documents.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Responsibility with motorized equipment.
  • Good eye/hand coordination and motor skills.
  • Must pass in-company forklift driver training program and demonstrate safe handling of forklift truck.

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting up to a maximum of 40 lbs.
  • Occasionally bending and lifting at the knees.
  • Twisting frequently at waist and shoulder levels.
  • Standing continuously.
  • Frequently reaching out in front of the body.
  • Sustained physical effort.
  • Capable of wearing safety glasses with permanent side shields at all times.
  • Capable of wearing steel-toed safety shoes at all times.
  • Capable of wearing other PPE as required.
  • Work may be repetitive in nature.
  • Continuous mental/visual attention.
  • Visual acuity to read directions and inspect parts closely.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform assembly work.

Working Conditions

Typical manufacturing setting with moveable, mechanical parts and/or equipment. Conditions include:

  • No air conditioning, so temperatures may be warmer in summer and cooler in winter.
  • Dust and noise levels within required limits.
  • Frequent vibration due to the volume of parts.
  • Exposure to higher-than-normal dust levels.
