Shift Team Leader- Manufacturing

About the role

The Shift Team Leader is responsible for team performance, team member engagement, and achieving manufacturing results on a shift-to-shift basis. This role supports and leads efforts at Cedar River to ensure an injury-free environment through safety practices and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and support within a high performance work system to all facets of the manufacturing process while on shift.
• Support and exemplify the vision and organizational values of International Paper, Cedar River Mill.
• Coordinate and lead efforts to support high performance work teams.
• Lead, provide guidance, and support teams as needed to achieve small team goals, daily responsibilities, and overall achievement of mill goals.
• Manage daily shift operations as an active shift leader, responsible for short-term and long-term mill performance.
• Communicate as needed with team members and mill leadership for resolution of safety, quality, cost, production, and personnel issues.
• Develop, maintain, and use reliable methods for all processes and their improvements.
• Assist other team members in the mill as necessary to minimize downtime and maintain quality.
• Maintain and develop team relationships.

Qualifications, Skills And Knowledge

• Demonstrated and successful leadership ability in a manufacturing environment, including knowledge of and leadership in manufacturing safety practices.
• Effectively model the Cedar River Organizational Values, and commitment to leading Cedar River to an injury-free work environment through leadership and role modeling safe behavior and direct involvement in safety activities.
• High level of integrity, energy, and leadership ability to develop and lead others.
• Demonstrated and successful ability to lead and continuously improve team performance in order to work injury-free, provide a quality product, and achieve world-class productivity in support of a high performance work system.
• Effective oral and written communications skills with proven ability to provide positive and improvement feedback, coaching opportunities, and take corrective measures as appropriate.
• Strong computer skills required.
