About the role
This is an opportunity to help generate power safely and efficiently while developing a cross-trained operations workforce.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe working environment for all personnel and ensure policies and procedures are followed safely and efficiently.
- Approve requests to remove equipment from service for maintenance or other purposes; ensure equipment is properly cleared and tagged; and issue safety permits in accordance with plant procedures.
- Maintain the plant within all environmental limits and permits.
- Provide emergency responses to injuries or accidents.
- Direct completion of shifts, daily, weekly, and monthly checks.
- Maximize operational performance across all aspects of the facility.
- Troubleshoot plant operational issues.
- Cookordination maintenance activities.
- Complete projects assigned by the Operations Manager.
- Train and manage a motivated, flexible, cross-trained, and technically capable workforce.
- Lead technical training and development for personnel on the assigned shift.
- Maintain administrative personnel records.
- Work a rotating 12-hour schedule alternating day and night shifts, with overtime as needed.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED required.
- Three or more years of supervisory experience in power generation or resource recovery plant operations.
- Demonstrated hands-on supervisory experience with high-performing teams, high-pressure boilers, electric-generation equipment, steam systems, and plant operations.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret administrative periodicals, technical procedures, regulations, operating instructions, and plant documentation.
- Ability to write reports and correspondence and effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and subordinates in English.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rates, ratios, and percentages; and draw and interpret graphs.
- Ability to take appropriate safe action independently to prevent equipment damage or personnel injury during emergencies or unusual situations.
Shift & Physical Requirements
- Ability to work on 12-hour rotating shifts (the DuPont Plan).
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb ladders and stairs.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Ability to qualify for and wear a full-face respirator.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
